My Anklet

I don’t wear any jewelry. Never have, never really will - except for my anklet. I don’t like the way jewelry feels. It makes my skin crawl. If I have a necklace on: it irritates my neck, I’m constantly fussing with it, and it accentuates my fat neck. The same characteristics can be applied to most jewelry I attempt to wear. This, however, does not apply to my anklet.

My anklet is a $79.99 gold bonded (i.e. not real gold) rope chain. I bought it at a kiosk in the mall. My anklet is light, and shiny. I actually splurged on a warranty for the thing. Any time I believe my anklet is tarnished, I just exchange it for a brand new one. I thought that an anklet would bring attention to my “scaly” ankle, due to psoriasis, or to my veiny foot top, but it does not. Instead, it gives me a glimpse of what full confidence could feel like.

So, I never take it off.
